About the Area
We are situated 20 minutes drive from two beautiful coastlines, the Pink Granite Coast with its fascinating rock formations and islands, and the Goelo coast with its many resorts, both of which offer miles of coastline walks and beautiful beaches.
The area is renowned for its delicious shell fish, crepes and Breton cider. With it's nearby estuaries, picturesque fishing ports and islands, you can find excellent walking, fishing, golf, water activities and cycling.
Pontrieux
The nearby town of Pontrieux, (Petit Cité de Caractre), is situated on the River Trieux at it's highest navigable point. From the two triangular squares with their half timbered houses separated by the river, a short stroll will take you to the port with a marina.
There are many restaurants, cafés and brasseries, as well as a supermarket, pharmacy, and two patisserie/boulangeries. We recommend the local épicerie with its wonderful selection of local products and friendly service.
There is a local train service to the fishing port of Paimpol following the line of the estuary giving spectacular views, and to Guingamp with its cathedral and attractive shopping centre.
Just to the north of Paimpol you are able to visit the beautiful island of Brehat, famous for it's attractive fauna and car free roads. Paimpol itself offers a weekly market with an abundance of fish and shellfish
and other regional products in season. There are wonderful restaurants on the quay and creperies for the lighter lunch.
The Abbaye de Beauport near Paimpol, with spectacular views and walks along the bay, is also worth a visit.
The historic cathedral towns of Treguier and Guingamp with their popular Weekly markets are 15 minutes drive.
Alternatively, relax with a meal or drink at a café or restaurant on the port in Pontrieux, overlooking the marina.
